• Modern reality check: if your memory of sliders is a sticky 1980s aluminum door, today’s units are a revelation — multi-wheel stainless rollers, low-E glass, and multi-point locks.

French Doors: the Classic Statement

• Looks: nothing matches a pair of swinging glass doors for traditional character.
• Wide-open feel: both panels open fully — great for entertaining and moving furniture.
• Considerations: you give up the swing arc inside or out, and more frame means slightly less glass for the same opening.

Room layout decides most cases: no swing room, choose the slider. Ventilation strategy matters too — French doors open the whole wall; sliders always keep one fixed pane.
